Each year Spark Crowdfunding polls hundreds of early-stage businesses to find out who is the most ambitious. After much deliberation, their judges have found the Top 100 here in Ireland. The Top 100 seeks to uncover those Irish companies who have the strongest desire and determination to succeed and have already demonstrated their capabilities and intentions in this regard.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, the great American poet and philosopher said: “Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.”
Frank Tyger, the American journalist said: “Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose.”
And Elvis Presley said: “Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine”.
Regardless of whose description resonates best, it is clear ‘ambition’ is a vital prerequisite for business success and we here at Cotter Agritech are delighted to be recognised for our ambition in addressing some of Agriculture's challenges around profitability, productivity and sustainability.
In the face of significant economic headwinds, it has been really encouraging to see so many Irish entrepreneurs grow their businesses and increase employment over the last 12 months. It is especially pleasing to see such a large proportion of female founders in this year’s cohort, as well as a disproportionately high number of founders under the age of 30. The future is indeed very bright.
